How do they work?
Nematodes are aggressive organisms which attack the pest by entering the insect directly. Once inside, they release bacteria that stops the pest from feeding, quickly killing the pest. The nematodes then reproduce inside the dead pest and release the next generation of hungry nematodes, which then seek further prey, giving pest control over many weeks.
How do i use them?
Nematodes are best bought from reputable mail order suppliers to ensure fresh stock. Once delivered keep the sealed pack in the fridge, to ensure they remain viable until you need them. The pack of nematodes will keep up to the expiry date, marked on the inner box of each pack, when kept refrigerated. It is a perishable product and you should only open the pack when you intend to use it. Once open make sure you use entire packet at one time and do not store part used packs or made up solution.

Once mixed, apply immediately, making sure they are applied to the soil. Then wash any nematodes off the plants using fresh clean water.
Some General Tips.
Apply the nematode mix to moist soil, it is best to do this during the evening as the soil won't dry out so quickly, giving the nematodes time to go beneath the soil. If you have to apply nematodes during the day (especially if hot) again make sure you water them in well so the soil doesn't dry out to soon.
Plan to control slugs from early in the season when they are young and before they start to do the damage.
